This Brenham meteorite possesses the classic characteristics found on the exteriors of the rare Brenham irons.   The concave side or face displays a number of shallow regmaglypts or ablation pits resulting in its fiery descent through Earth's atmosphere and the obverse is curved and rounded, with the exception of occasional iron protrusions.   Each of the Brenham irons contains a distinctively unique shape and no two are even remotely similar. This 123-pound specimen offers a surprise - it is mostly iron in composition - but also contains small areas of pallasite, making it a "transitional" specimen. Transitional Brenham meteorites - representing both planetary core material (iron) and the mantle-contact material (pallasite) - are the rarest   composition. Very few have been reported. This, the largest-known intact specimen of a transitional Brenham meteorite, was the consummate recovery for Brenham Meteorite Company, Ltd.'s efforts and is a prized and prominent specimen.
